We are now offering bespoke intensive courses for those who prefer to condense their driver training into a short period. This may suit you if you have a limited period to learn to drive or are eager to get your full driving licence as soon as possible.
Intensive courses are usually conducted over one week with the driving test booked for the final day.
Intensive courses do not suit everyone so we only offer them to those who are already "on the road".
What does "on the road" mean?
We only offer intensive courses to those who have passed the theory test and have some experience of driving. This includes the following basic skills:
Clutch control and changing gear (if learning in a manual)
Moving off and stopping
Steering
Emerging from and turning into simple junctions
How do I book a course?
Contact us to book a two hour assessment drive. At the end of the assessment you and your instructor will agree if an intensive course is the right option for you.
You and your instructor will then agree how many hours you will need for the course and will book the practical driving test. Usually the test will be booked on a Friday so the course will begin on the Monday of that week.
To secure the course, a 50% deposit will need to be paid at the end of the assessment drive.
How much does it cost?
We tailor the course to your needs so the prices will vary depending on what you and your instructor agree is best for you. Our current hourly rate is £40 for manual and £45 for automatic.
The assessment drive will be 2 hours so will cost £80 for manual and £90 for automatic.
The practical driving test costs £62 paid to the DVSA.
A typical course will be 20 hours spread over 4 days (Monday to Thursday) with 2 hours for the test on the final day. So in a manual car, a course like this will cost £880 (22 hours x £40) plus £80 for the assessment drive and £62 for the test.
The remainder of the course fee will need to be paid at least one week before the start of the course.
What can I expect during the course?
Your instructor will pick you up each day from your home or an agreed location that is suitable for you both. Normally the day will begin at 9am and you will have 5 to 6 hours of in-car tuition. This will be broken down into smaller periods during the day so you will have plenty of breaks. It is likely you will be finishing late in the afternoon or early evening. Your instructor will agree a suitable daily schedule with you before the course starts.
Intensive courses can be tiring so make sure you get plenty of rest each night ready for the next day.
How soon can I book a course?
We try to book courses as soon as possible. As the course depends on when the practical driving test can be booked there maybe a delay. Currently tests are booking approximately 3 or 4 months ahead.
